Get started with paid partnerships
Create a Partnered Post or Partnered Takeover in your Business Account, then schedule, pause, resume, copy, and filter your paid partnerships from draft to expiry.
Sponsorships let you earn directly from your content and partnerships, alongside programmatic demand. You promote selected posts as sponsored and earn per thousand impressions (CPM). Partners such as retail brands and media partners can showcase their content in your social experience.
You choose where sponsored content appears (placements) and how (environments), use takeovers for high-impact campaigns, and track results with GTM IDs, pixels, and sponsorship-level analytics. Sponsorships are part of Monetize. For the whole product, see Monetize: what it does and where to start.
Create a sponsorship
Enter the basics
- In your Business Account, go to Monetize > Paid Partnership. The page shows an empty state if no sponsorships exist, or your sponsorships with filters, CSV download, and an analytics panel.
- Click New Paid Partnership. It opens three steps: Configuration, Content Priority, and Review.
- Enter a Paid Partnership Title. It's mandatory.
- Choose a Paid Partnership Type: Partnered Post (the default) or Partnered Takeover.
Select posts
- Choose the Partnering Brand before you pick posts. It's the other brand in the paid partnership, and each sponsorship has only one. The post list then adds that brand's shared videos to your own.
- Choose posts from the approved posts in the Manage section. Search by keyword, or filter by brand, community or group, duration, and category or topics. Posts marked as House Ads are excluded.
You need at least one post selected before you can move to the next step.
Choose placements and environments
- In Select your Placement/Embed, choose where the sponsored content appears: All Placements & All Embeds, or specific placements and embeds.
- In Environment, select Mobile Web, Desktop Web, iOS, or Android.
Final delivery is the intersection of your Ad Configuration and the sponsorship settings. Learn more in Delivery rules.
Add tracking (Optional)
- Enter a Google Tag Manager ID and a Pixel URL. Both are optional, and you can add them at the sponsorship level and at the post level.
Set earnings and the sponsorship period
- Enter the Video View CPM. It's mandatory and ranges from 10 USD to 1,000 USD. One impression is a 3-second video play.
- Enter a Total Paid Partnership Budget from 10 USD to 1,000,000 USD. It's mandatory and must be higher than the CPM.
- Set the Paid Partnership Period: the start date and time, and the end date and time. Both are mandatory, must be in the future, and must be at least 24 hours apart.
- Check the Payment Type. It's prefilled as Publisher Direct Payout.
Each field is checked on its own. An empty mandatory field shows a required error, which clears as soon as you fix it. Next works only when every mandatory field is filled and valid.
(Optional) Change Frequency Capping. It's on by default at 5 per Daily: you can set the count up to 20, set the period to Daily or Lifetime, or turn it off.
(Optional) Select the Pacing toggle. Off, the default, is ASAP, which spends as fast as inventory allows. On is Evenly, which spreads the budget across the period.
(Optional) Add Targeting by URLs, keywords, or location. The sponsorship then shows only where they match. With no targeting, there's no restriction.
Review and add the posts
- Click Next.
- Review the post thumbnails and metadata preview. Drag posts to reorder them, or move them up or down in large lists.
- (Optional) Edit a post's metadata. Sponsored posts use a copy of the metadata, so the original post doesn't change.
Optionally, add links to a post, up to 4 per post. A post's existing description and links appear prefilled, and you can update them.
- On the final screen, check the configuration summary and the selected posts preview, which shows three posts and a "+N more" card.
Optionally, click Download PDF to save a summary of the configuration.
- Click Send Proposal to send it to the partnering brand, or Schedule Partnered Post to schedule it directly.
Save as a draft (Optional)
A sponsorship is saved as a draft once you click Next on the Configuration step. To keep it without adding it yet, save it as a draft.
- Click Cancel in the configuration window.
- In the confirmation window, click Save as a draft.
A "Draft saved" pop-up confirms the draft. If you click Discard instead, your changes aren't saved.
Manage a draft
After you create a sponsorship, you can edit the draft, schedule it to go live, or delete it.
Edit a draft
- Click Edit Draft to modify the sponsorship details.
- Make your changes. A confirmation message appears.
Schedule a sponsorship
- Click Schedule to LIVE to set when the sponsorship becomes active. Genuin schedules it automatically when all mandatory fields are complete.
- If a pop-up prompts you to finish the draft, click Complete Draft and enter the missing mandatory details.
After you supply the remaining details, the sponsorship is scheduled.
Delete a draft
- Click Delete Draft to remove the sponsorship entirely.
- In the Delete draft? pop-up, click Delete.
You can't delete a sponsorship once it's live.
Copy, pause, and resume a sponsorship
Copy a live sponsorship
- Open the menu on a live sponsorship and select Copy to Draft to work on it in draft mode.
A "Sponsorship copied" confirmation appears.
Pause a sponsorship
- Open the menu on a live sponsorship and select Pause Paid Partnership.
- In the Pause Paid Partnership? window, click Pause Paid Partnership.
A "Sponsorship paused" confirmation appears, and the status changes to Paused.
Resume a sponsorship
You can resume a sponsorship that's paused or has ended.
- Open the menu on the paused or ended sponsorship and select Resume Paid Partnership.
- In the Resume Paid Partnership? window, click Resume Paid Partnership.
- After confirming, select Resume Paid Partnership.
Before the sponsorship resumes, Business Account checks that its start and end dates and every configuration are still valid.
Filter sponsorships
In Monetize > Paid Partnership, filter your campaigns by:
- Status: Live, Draft, Expired, Paused, Scheduled to go live, Proposal Received, Proposal Sent, or Rejected
- Paid Partnership: Partnered Post or Partnered Takeover
- Brands
Sort and view options aren't available.
For the consolidated view and analytics, see Manage and track sponsorship campaigns.
Sponsorship lifecycle
| State | Description |
|---|---|
| Draft | Configuration is complete, but the sponsorship isn't sent or scheduled yet |
| Proposal Sent | Sent to the other brand and waiting for a response |
| Proposal Received | Received from the other brand, for you to review |
| Rectification Sent | You changed a received proposal and sent it back |
| Rectification Received | The other brand changed the proposal and sent it back |
| Scheduled | Accepted, or scheduled directly, and waiting for the start date |
| Live | Active campaign |
| Paused | Paused by hand until you resume it |
| Expired | The end date passed before the budget ran out |
| Finished | The budget ran out |
| Rejected | The receiving brand rejected the proposal |
A sponsorship you schedule directly moves from Draft to Scheduled to Live. One you send as a proposal moves to Proposal Sent first, and to Scheduled once the other brand accepts it. It goes Live automatically at its start time. It shows Finished when the budget runs out, or Expired when the end date passes first.
Sponsorship types
A Partnered Post appears within feed placements and blends with organic content. You can select up to 20 posts by default.
A Partnered Takeover fills the entire placement with sponsored content. An optional toggle, Allow other content to appear after takeover, shows organic content after the sponsored content.
With the toggle off, only the takeover videos show, playing in a continuous loop. If you select more than 10 videos, they keep looping whatever the toggle is set to.
Switching between the two sponsorship types keeps every value you've already entered.
For how each type renders, see How sponsored posts and takeovers work. The capability articles are Paid Partner Post and Paid Partner Takeover.
Delivery rules
Sponsored content appears only when all four conditions are met:
- The placement is enabled in Ad Configuration.
- The placement is selected in the sponsorship.
- The sponsorship is Live.
- The budget isn't exhausted.
You can set up sponsorships even if the full Ad Configuration setup is pending.
Sponsored content displays only in placements and embeds that are part of an active ad preset in Ad Configuration and selected in the sponsorship configuration. Learn more about presets.
In that preset, the toggle for the sponsorship's type must be on: Partnered Post (under In-Feed) for sponsored posts, or Partnered Takeover for takeovers.
If Partnered Post is off in the preset, no sponsored posts show. If Video Ads is off too, House (Fallback Content) fills those slots.
Sponsored posts follow the preset's In-Feed Start Slot and Repeat Frequency. They play in the order you set on the Content Priority step, and after the last post the sequence starts again.
Every sponsored video carries a sponsored tag.
Changes to a sponsorship or a preset reach the SDK after the page reloads.
Priority between sponsorships
When several sponsorships compete for the same placement, Genuin applies these rules in order:
- A takeover shows first when the preset's Partnered Takeover toggle is on.
- Within the same type, higher CPM wins.
- Higher remaining budget wins.
- More impressions delivered wins.
- First come, first served (FCFS).
The next sponsorship shows once the current one is paused, runs out of budget, or expires.
Edit a sponsorship
| Field | Draft or Scheduled | Live |
|---|---|---|
| Paid Partnership Title | Yes | Yes |
| Posts | Yes | Yes |
| Video View CPM | Yes | No |
| Total Paid Partnership Budget | Yes | No |
| Start Date | Yes | No |
| End Date | Yes | Yes |
You can't change the CPM, budget, or type once a sponsorship is live.
Troubleshoot sponsorships
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Missing placements | Genuin prompts you to set up Ad Configuration. Add the placement to an active preset. |
| Incomplete draft | You can't schedule it. Complete all mandatory fields, then schedule. |
| Invalid dates | Reconfigure the start and end dates. |
| Sponsored posts don't show | Check that the placement is enabled in Ad Configuration, the placement is selected in the sponsorship, and the campaign is Live. |
Examples
- Brand partnership campaign: A media brand partners with a retail brand. It selects 10 videos, tags the sponsoring brand, runs the campaign for 2 weeks, and earns revenue per impression.
- Product launch takeover: A brand launching a new product uses a Partnered Takeover, so only campaign videos show in the carousel, for maximum visibility.
- Always-on monetization: With a budget sized for a long period, the sponsorship runs until its end date and invoices based on CPM.
Limitations
Sponsorships support Partnered Posts and Partnered Takeovers, CPM-based monetization, placement and environment targeting, the draft-to-live lifecycle, GTM and pixel tracking, and metadata customization that doesn't change the original post.
- One brand per sponsorship: Multi-brand campaigns aren't supported.
- No session takeovers: Takeovers work per placement only.
- No auction: Sponsorships don't use auction logic.
- Approval only for proposals: Send Proposal waits for the other brand to accept, reject, or rectify it. Schedule Partnered Post skips that step.
- No internal payments: Genuin doesn't process payments internally.
- No House Ads creation: You can't create House Ads from Sponsorships. Learn more about House Ads.
