Add ad servers to your demand settings
Learn how to connect and manage the ad servers that supply ads to your placements and embeds, and how to use them in a preset.
This guide describes the actions you need to take to connect Google Ad Manager, add Google Ad Manager and Pangle accounts manually, use header bidding, set a default demand source, and apply your ad servers in a preset.
Connect your Google Ad Manager account
Connect an account to bring in every ad unit that belongs to it.
- Go to Settings > Ad Configuration > Demand Settings.
- Click Connect Your Account under Google Ad Manager.
- Sign in with the Google account that holds your ad units. You're asked for a password the first time you connect.
- Click Continue. A pop-up lists the ad units in that account.
- Select the ad units you want to connect. You can connect one or several — if you deselect all of them, there's nothing to connect.
- Click Connect and set a Traffic Rate. See Set traffic rates for your ad servers.
- Click Save. The connected ad units appear in a list.
To change what's connected, reopen the pop-up. The name, network code, and ID of an ad unit that's already connected can't be changed, but you can add or remove ad units and click Save. If you disconnect the account, the ad units you already added stay listed.
Add a Google Ad Manager account manually
Use this if you want to add a specific ad unit tied to an account, rather than connecting the whole account.
- Go to Settings > Ad Configuration > Demand Settings and click GAM Account.
- Enter a name and your account details.
- Add a VAST or VMAP link. An empty or invalid link is rejected with a validation error.
- Set the Traffic Rate.
- Click Save.
You can add more than one GAM account — repeat these steps for each.
The account name is required and takes up to 100 characters.
Add a Pangle account
- Go to Settings > Ad Configuration > Demand Settings and click Pangle.
- Enter your App ID and Slot ID. Both must be numbers — an empty Slot ID shows a "required" error, and non-numeric values show a "must be numbers" error.
- Choose an ad format for each slot (for example, Interstitial, Native, Rewarded, or Banner). Each format can only be used once per account, so a format that's already selected is disabled in the other rows.
- To use the same Slot ID in a different format, add another row and choose the other format.
- Click Save.
When there's only one row, the delete option is hidden; it returns as soon as you add a second row. You can add more than one Pangle account.
Each Pangle account takes an account name, an App ID, and up to 5 slot rows. The formats, in order, are interstitial, native, rewarded, banner_320x50, and banner_320x250.
Use header bidding
Header bidding lets you choose from more than 300 supported ad servers instead of connecting each one yourself.
By default, InfyTV is your header bidding server. It's a built-in backup: if you haven't added anything else, InfyTV is enabled automatically and serves your ads. InfyTV can be enabled or disabled, but it can't be edited or deleted.
Add a server
- Go to Settings > Ad Configuration > Demand Settings and open Header Bidding.
- Search for a server, or scroll the list. Servers are listed alphabetically.
- Click Add next to the server you want.
- Enter the details it asks for — for example, AnyView asks for a Publisher ID and a Channel ID.
- Click Save.
If the server you need isn't in the list, click Custom, enter an account name, and add a VAST or VMAP link.
Manage your servers
- Add each server once. After you add a server, its Add button is replaced by Edit and Delete, and you get an enable/disable toggle. This also applies to Custom.
- Edit. Update a server's IDs and click Save.
- Disable without deleting. Turn the toggle off to keep a server but stop sending it traffic. Turn it back on any time.
- Delete. Click Delete to remove a server. A message confirms the deletion.
- Keep one on. At least one header bidding server must always be on. If you turn off the default server, the remaining server that's on is locked. You can't edit, delete, or turn it off while it's the only one on.
The list is ordered with enabled servers first, then disabled servers, then servers you haven't added yet — each group in alphabetical order. You can add all 300+ servers if you want. The Header Bidding card shows up to three server chips, and the rest as +N More. Click Edit on the card to open the server list.
Understand traffic rates in header bidding
Every server in header bidding shares one traffic rate. If you set it to 100%, each server gets 100%; if you set it to 80%, each gets 80%. Google Ad Manager and Pangle accounts that you add outside header bidding each have their own individual traffic rate — for example, one account at 10% and another at 80%.
A traffic rate is required for every ad server, and it can't be more than 100%.
Set a default demand source
Header bidding is the default demand source. To change it:
- Go to Settings > Ad Configuration > Demand Settings.
- Hover over any server other than Header Bidding and click Set as default.
- Confirm in the pop-up.
The new default applies only to presets you create from now on. Existing presets keep the default they were created with. For example, if you set Pangle as default, a new preset selects Pangle automatically while presets created earlier still show Header Bidding.
Use your ad servers in a preset
Presets decide where and how ads from your demand sources appear. See Create a preset for paid partnerships for the full setup.
- Go to Settings > Ad Configuration. Five presets are provided by default: one Global preset for your basic feed (home, latest, and popular, with no placement or embed), and four others you assign to a placement or embed.
- Open a preset, or click New Preset, and enter a name (required) and an optional description.
- Choose Global or Custom settings. Global applies the same settings to all four platforms; Custom lets you set each one (Web, Mobile Web, iOS, and Android) separately.
- Select the demand source. The default is preselected. If you add other sources, you can remove the default one. Servers inside header bidding aren't listed individually — you see Header Bidding as one source.
- Select a placement or embed, then adjust the in-feed and in-stream settings.
- Click Save. The preset becomes active.
The ad types you can serve depend on your demand source. You can leave a toggle on, but an ad only serves if the server you selected supports that type — for example, pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll in-stream ads appear based on what the server provides. Partnered Post and Partnered Takeover are used for paid partnerships. Learn more in Choose between Partner Post and Partner Takeover.
Once a preset is saved, your placement or embed shows the ads from the servers you selected, using the settings you chose.
The four presets besides Global are Premium, Balanced, Conservative, and Aggressive. Their ad settings are read-only, but you can change which placements and embeds they apply to.
Delete an ad server
- InfyTV can't be deleted.
- A server that's used in a preset can't be deleted. Remove it from the preset, or delete the preset, first.
- The default server can't be deleted. Set a different server as default first, then delete it.
A confirmation message appears whenever you add, update, or delete an ad server.
