Founders & business owners: questions and answers

The person deciding whether to launch a media network on Genuin and what it will cost, from a solo creator to a CEO. 19 questions, grouped by stage.

Evaluate

What exactly is a media network on Genuin, and do I need one?

It is your own distribution and monetization system: the placements where your video appears, the communities that hold the content, and the demand that pays for views. If you have an audience or a site and want video that earns, you need one; the same five steps apply whether you are a podcaster or a retailer.

How is this different from just posting on YouTube or TikTok?

Those platforms own the audience, the data, and most of the revenue. On Genuin the video renders on your properties under your brand, the viewer relationship and data stay yours, and you set the demand sources; distribution into the Genuin network adds reach without giving that up.

Which network model should I pick: Owned, Extended O&O, Commerce, or Retail?

Owned if you want video and revenue share on your own site; Extended O&O if you want Genuin to run your brand as a destination on partner inventory as a managed service; Commerce if you have first-party data and a catalog; Retail if you need every impression priced to margin with your ad server as system of record. You can move up a level later without rebuilding.

What does it cost to start, and when do I pay anything?

Starting is free with no card and no contract. Inventory monetized through Genuin carries no serving cost; a revenue share applies to Genuin-sold demand and a platform fee to demand you bring yourself. Enterprise agreements set both in one schedule.

How long does it take to go live?

About 165 minutes of hands-on work across the five steps for a typical site; a podcaster can be live in an afternoon. Domain verification can add up to a day and enterprise signatures depend on your signatory. Extended O&O destinations take four to six weeks from signature.

Do I need a developer to launch?

No for a creator or a site on a tag manager: the embed is one snippet pasted once. Yes for auto login, mobile apps, or conversion tracking, which take a developer about a day in total.

Can I leave, and what do I keep?

You keep your brand, audience relationship, content, and data; exports cover videos, reports, and segments. Agreements set notice periods; the Free and Self-serve plans end any time.

Do I have to configure all of this myself?

No. Octo does the work at every step: it selects, generates, creates, and adds, and you approve, edit, or decline. The only things you do yourself are verify your email, sign the agreement, enter payout details, and approve code changes it opens for your developer.

Set up

Can I run several brands or clients from one account?

Yes. One Business Account holds several communities, each with its own brand kit; roles can be scoped per community. Agencies usually run one brand per client inside the agency's Business Account instead.

What do I need ready before I start?

A work email, a logo and colors, access to your website's head or DNS, and any content sources (podcast RSS, YouTube, a catalog). Everything else is created in BCC as you go.

How do I make Octo smarter about my brand?

Point the website crawler at your properties and add what it cannot see under Brand → Context: guidelines, audience notes, catalog, partner rules, policies, technical notes, and legal paper. Every approval and inline edit teaches it too, and corrections you make to its brand summary outweigh the crawl.

Build

What types of brands can be part of my network, and how do I decide who belongs?

Any brand that brings an asset your network uses: audience, content, inventory, data, a catalog, or demand. Classify each on five axes (assets, role, market relationship, company type, scale) and BCC proposes the permissions, split, and ranking weight; competitive brands go to the exclusion list.

Launch

What has to be true before I can go live?

A verified domain with the loader on one page, a saved brand kit, at least one placement with an experience, 30 published videos (or 10 with Canvas scheduling), accepted guidelines, and a privacy notice link. BCC checks each automatically and links to the fix.

Do I have to create communities, groups, and categories myself?

No. Upload your videos or connect your social profile and the AI assigns every video to a community, a group, categories, topics, and keywords, then generates your content hub from them. You review and move anything it got wrong; most people change nothing.

Grow

How does the network grow without me producing content?

Studio turns sources you already have into clips; Canvas keeps the library growing on a cadence; partner content you accept fills groups; and Quests bring in creator and member posts. A weekly podcast feeds a daily feed.

Monetize

Where does the money actually come from?

Six sources: Genuin network revenue share, Paid Partner Posts and Takeovers, programmatic through an ad server, Marketplace and AdCP packages, subscriptions, and in-video commerce. Most networks start with revenue share and add sources as they grow.

What is Genuin's share and when am I paid?

The share is set by your agreement type and shown in BCC under Settings → Plan before you sign. Payouts are monthly net-30 by default, with statements that reconcile to the revenue report; creator shares settle automatically.

Measure

How do I know it is working?

Reports show watch time per user per minute and lift against a holdout for engagement, and revenue, attributed commerce, and net margin for monetization, all along the same grid. Relevance OS turns those into what to change next.

Troubleshoot

What support do I get, and who shows up when Octo cannot solve it?

Every Business Account owner has 24/7 Octo-enabled support on every plan. Octo answers or acts first; when a person is needed it brings the right account manager, developer, or Ops engineer into the same thread with the context, and stays on it until it is solved.
