Monetization models on Genuin: a decision guide
Every Genuin network can earn from up to six demand sources; which ones to switch on depends on whether you have your own sales relationships, first-party data, and a catalog. Reading time about 6 minutes.
| Demand source | What it is | Turn it on when | Measured by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Genuin network revenue share | Genuin sells your impressions through its demand and pays a share | Always; it is the floor | eCPM, fill |
| Paid Partner Posts and Takeovers (see Paid Partner Posts and Paid Partner Takeovers) | Brands pay to place content in your groups or take over a placement for a period | You have brand partners or Genuin sells them for you | Package revenue, RAR |
| Programmatic (see Programmatic: Genuin Ad Server or your partner ad server) | Open and private marketplace demand through Genuin Ad Server or yours | Sellers are authorized (see Sign your agreement and authorize sellers) | eCPM, fill, viewability |
| Marketplace and AdCP (see Marketplace: list packages and transact with demand partners and AdCP: make your inventory discoverable to AI buyer agents) | Packages listed for buyers and AI buyer agents | You want inbound demand without a sales team | Package revenue, win rate |
| Subscriptions and paid access (see Subscriptions, bundles, and paid access) | Members pay for premium groups or bundles | You have content people pay for | MRR, churn |
| In-video commerce (see Dynamic in-video linkouts and affiliate commerce) | Products sold from the player, affiliate or your own checkout | You have a catalog | Attributed revenue, net margin |
Outcome framing, not reach framing
Genuin reports every source in monetization outcomes: revenue, attributed commerce, and net margin on ad spend, so a retailer and a podcaster read the same report. Reach metrics are available but never the headline.
Three combinations that cover most networks
- Creator or site: network share + subscriptions.
- Publisher or media company: network share + Paid Partner packages + programmatic + Marketplace.
- Brand or retailer: all six, with programmatic through a partner ad server and commerce through their own checkout.
How it runs
The demand setup, packages, agreements, and seller files described here are drafted for you, priced against your floors and brand safety profile, and switched on only with your approval; money never moves on a change you did not approve.
Support. Help is available 24/7 from Brand Control Center and from every page of these docs. Ask in plain language; when a person is needed, an account manager, developer, or Ops engineer joins the same thread and stays on it until it is resolved. Every Business Account owner has this on every plan (see 24/7 Octo-enabled support: how Octo brings in account managers, developers, and Ops).
API & SDK
Access: the calls in the table are the proposed Business Account API (see Business Account API: provisioning, OAuth, and the resource map), authenticated with a key scoped to the account and a role or an OAuth client acting for it; every confirmation in this article becomes a proposal you can approve by API (POST /proposals/{proposalId}:approve). Live today, the server API under /api/thirdparty authenticates with a gn-access-token (see Generate an access token), and Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap maps what is live to what is proposed.
