Paid Partner Takeover

A partner's videos fill your selected placements and embeds for the partnership period, with your brand kit kept and the partner's brand on the content.

A Paid Partner Takeover gives one partner your selected placements and embeds for the partnership period. In your Business Account, you find it under Monetize > Paid Partnership as the Partnered Takeover type. Its videos play first, then your content resumes, or the videos loop, depending on the content toggle. Your brand kit stays in place, and the partner's brand appears on the content and on an optional banner. When the window closes, the inventory reverts on its own.

Octo, Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in your Business Account, proposes this capability when it finds a fit on your sites and apps. It completes the steps under Set it up from your brand context. Nothing goes live until you approve it. It's part of Monetize, and Paid Partner Posts and Paid Partner Takeovers compares it with the Post.

When to use it

Use it when a partner wants to own a moment on your network, not a single slot in a feed. Common windows are:

  • Launch days
  • Weekends
  • Seasons
  • Event sponsorships

Takeovers also suit non-endemic brands, which want your audience but sell something else. They buy Takeovers and audience extension rather than placing content in your groups. For one partner video ranked inside a group, use a Paid Partner Post instead.

How it works

  • The partner's videos play in the placements, embeds, and environments you select. The Hierarchical Grid shows where each placement sits.
  • Your brand kit stays. The partner's brand appears on the content and, if you add one, a banner.
  • You price a Takeover per thousand video views, with a total budget for the partnership period.
  • A package can bundle a Takeover with Paid Partner Posts and offsite tags, so one sale covers your groups and the open web.
  • You sell it directly or list it for buyers. If you enable AdCP, AI buyer agents can find the package too.
  • When the window ends, the Takeover reverts automatically.
  • Packages are priced against your floors and brand safety profile. Money never moves on a change you didn't approve.
  • In your Business Account, a Paid Partner Takeover is a paid partnership with Partnership Type set to Partnered Takeover. Switching from Partnered Post keeps the values you entered.
  • A content toggle in the takeover's preview decides what plays. On, the takeover videos play first, then your normal content resumes. Off, only the takeover videos show, in a continuous loop.
  • With more than 10 videos selected, the takeover videos keep looping whatever the toggle is set to.
  • A takeover holds up to 20 posts. Posts marked as House Ads can't be selected.
  • Takeover videos carry a sponsored tag.
  • When several paid partnerships are live on the same placement or embed, the takeover is shown first. Between two takeovers, the one with the higher CPM goes first, and the next starts once it's Paused, Finished, or Expired.
  • Targeting, when set, limits the URLs, keywords, or locations where the takeover is shown.
  • Changes to a paid partnership or a preset reach the SDK after the page reloads.

Set it up

Octo proposes the Takeover with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.

  1. Under Monetize > Paid Partnership, click New Paid Partnership and choose Partnered Takeover. To sell it in a package, create a Takeover package with its inventory and window under Monetize > Packages. Learn how in Package Builder.
  2. Sell it directly or list it. For a direct sale, click Send Proposal on the review page, or click Schedule Partnered Post to schedule the takeover yourself. Then approve the creative under Monetize > Approvals. Learn how in Packages: sell outcomes to brands and demand partners.
  3. The Takeover runs for its window and reverts automatically. Learn how windows and pricing work in Paid Partner Posts and Paid Partner Takeovers.

What the publisher needs first

Before a takeover can show, the publisher's brand needs these in place:

  • Approved videos.
  • A placement or an embed, created under Grow > On Site.
  • That placement or embed assigned to an active preset under Settings > Ad Configuration.
  • Partnered Takeover switched on in that preset. It's on by default, and other ad types can stay off.

The advertiser needs no placement, embed, or preset of its own.

In the preset editor, an active Partnered Takeover overrides all other ad types in the feed preview. A smaller Video Feed Preview for Partnered Takeover appears below its switch.

Send, schedule, and respond

On the review page, the publisher can click Send Proposal or Schedule Partnered Post. The label reads Schedule Partnered Post for takeovers too, and it moves the takeover straight to Scheduled to go live without a proposal.

The advertiser can only send a proposal, because the takeover runs on the publisher's site. Download PDF gives a summary, and the receiving brand gets it attached to an email.

The receiving brand can Accept, Reject, or Rectify the proposal. A proposal goes live only through Accept, either directly or after a rectification.

Takeover states

A takeover moves through the same states as any paid partnership:

  • Scheduled to go live turns Live on the start date.
  • Live moves to Finished when the total budget runs out, or to Expired if the end date comes first.
  • A Paused or Expired takeover can resume after Business Account checks that its dates and settings are still valid.
  • You can delete a takeover only while it's a Draft or Proposal Sent, never once it's live.

What it reports

Each package reports these measures against the outcome block you forecast. Outcome Forecast Blocks explains how a forecast is reconciled against delivery.

  • Delivered impressions: how many times the partner's content was shown in the window.
  • Engagement: how viewers responded to the content.
  • Outcomes against forecast: projected views, engagement, and attributed commerce compared with what was delivered.

Reports > Revenue also breaks revenue down by package and partner.

In your Business Account, views on a live paid partnership are counted and shown on the paid partnership itself.
