Paid Partner Post

A partner brand's videos shown in your placements and embeds with a sponsored tag, at the slots your preset sets in the feed Maya ranks. It's priced per thousand video views against a total budget.

A Paid Partner Post puts a partner's videos in your placements and embeds with a sponsored tag, in the order you set on Content Priority. In your Business Account, you find it under Monetize > Paid Partnership as the Partnered Post type. The partner supplies the video, or Studio produces it from their brief.

Octo, Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in your Business Account, proposes this capability when it finds a fit on your sites and apps. It completes the steps under Set it up from your brand context. Nothing goes live until you approve it. It's part of Monetize, and Paid Partner Posts and Paid Partner Takeovers compares it with the Takeover.

When to use it

Use it when a brand wants its content inside your groups, not around them.

  • Brand partnerships: partners you sell to directly or reach through package listings.
  • Endemic brands in category groups: brands that sell what your audience comes to you for. They get the highest ranking weight. Brand Network concepts explains how brands are classified.
  • Sponsorship replacements: a Post that replaces a sponsorship.

Non-endemic brands want your audience but sell something else. They buy a Paid Partner Takeover or audience extension instead of placing content.

How it works

  • The videos show in the placements and embeds you pick, with a sponsored tag.
  • FTC and local disclosure fields are required on every Post, and the partner can't remove them.
  • Posts appear at the preset's Start Slot and Repeat Frequency, in the order you set on Content Priority. After the last one, the sequence repeats from the first. Personalization and relevance explains how Maya ranks feeds.
  • The Shorts feed in the Vertical Video Player Placement supports in-feed Posts.
  • You price a Post per thousand video views, with a total budget for the partnership period. A package can bundle Posts with Takeovers and offsite tags.
  • The partner sees views, watch time, and engagement. When commerce is connected, the partner also sees attributed revenue.
  • Packages are priced against your floors and brand safety profile. Money never moves on a change you didn't approve.
  • In your Business Account, a Paid Partner Post is a paid partnership with Partnership Type set to Partnered Post, the default.
  • A paid partnership is a deal between two brands. The advertiser pays to have its videos shown, and the publisher shows them on its own websites and apps. Either brand can start the proposal.
  • A paid partnership holds up to 20 posts. Posts marked as House Ads can't be selected.
  • You can add up to 4 links to each post. A post's existing description and links appear prefilled, and you can update them.
  • If Partnered Post is off in the publisher's preset, no Paid Partner Posts are shown. If Video Ads is off too, House (Fallback Content) fills those slots.
  • Targeting, when set, limits the URLs, keywords, or locations where the Post is shown.
  • Changes to a paid partnership or a preset reach the SDK after the page reloads.

Set it up

Octo proposes the Post with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.

  1. Under Monetize > Paid Partnership, click New Paid Partnership and choose Partnered Post. Fill in the configuration, select posts, set their order and links, then review. To sell the Post in a package, create a package with the group and its forecast under Monetize > Packages. Learn how in Paid Partner Posts and Paid Partner Takeovers.
  2. Sell it directly, or list it for buyers. For a direct sale, click Send Proposal, or click Schedule Partnered Post to schedule it yourself. The partner sees a sent proposal in their own Business Account listing and by email, then accepts, rejects, or rectifies it. Learn how in Packages: sell outcomes to brands and demand partners.
  3. Approve the creative under Monetize > Approvals, or let Canvas, part of Supervised Intelligence, approve within your guardrails. Learn how in Canvas: run your network with growth and monetization agents.

What the publisher needs first

Before a Paid Partner Post can show, the publisher's brand needs these in place:

  • Approved videos.
  • A placement or an embed, created under Grow > On Site.
  • That placement or embed assigned to an active preset under Settings > Ad Configuration.
  • Partnered Post switched on under In-Feed in that preset. Other ad types can stay off.

The advertiser needs no placement, embed, or preset of its own.

Send, schedule, and respond

The review page shows every choice you made, and Download PDF gives a summary of the proposal. As the publisher, you pick one of two actions:

  • Send Proposal sends the proposal to the partnering brand right away.
  • Schedule Partnered Post skips the proposal and moves the paid partnership straight to Scheduled to go live.

As the advertiser, you can only click Send Proposal, because the Post runs on the publisher's site.

The receiving brand sees Proposal Received in its listing and gets an email with the details and the PDF attached. It then picks one action:

ActionWhat happens
RejectThe proposal ends and moves to Rejected.
AcceptA publisher picks the Placement, Embed, and Environment, which must sit together in an active preset. An advertiser sees a Targeting popup instead. The paid partnership moves to Scheduled to go live.
RectifyThe receiving brand edits the proposal and sends it back. The other brand sees Rectification Received and can accept it.

A proposal goes live only through Accept, either directly or after a rectification.

Each paid partnership appears as a card in your listing, in one of these states:

StateWhat it meansWhat you can do
DraftYou finished the first step but haven't sent or scheduled itEdit Draft, Delete Draft, or Schedule to LIVE
Proposal SentWaiting for the other brand to respondView details, or delete it
Proposal ReceivedThe other brand sent you a proposalReview it, then accept, reject, or rectify it
Rectification SentYou edited a received proposal and sent it backView details
Rectification ReceivedThe other brand edited the proposal and sent it backReview it, then accept it
Scheduled to go liveAccepted or scheduled, and waiting for the start dateEdit Paid Partnership
LiveRunning nowEdit Paid Partnership, Copy to Draft, or Pause Paid Partnership
PausedPaused by handEdit it, or click Resume Paid Partnership
ExpiredThe end date passed before the budget ran outEdit it, or click Resume Paid Partnership
FinishedThe total budget is spentView details
RejectedThe receiving brand rejected the proposalView details

Before a paused or expired paid partnership resumes, Business Account checks that its dates and settings are still valid.

You can delete a paid partnership only while it's a Draft or Proposal Sent. Once it's live, you can't delete it.

A Scheduled to go live paid partnership goes Live on its start date. It moves to Finished when the budget runs out, or to Expired if the end date comes first.

In your Business Account, you fill in these fields on the Configuration step, the first of three: Configuration, Content Priority, and Review.

Payment TypePublisher Direct Payout, prefilled: payment goes directly to the publisher.

Next turns on only when every required field is valid. Each empty field shows an error that clears as soon as you fix it.

When you move to the next step, the paid partnership is saved as a Draft. If you leave during the first step, the values you entered are reset.

When the advertiser starts from Grow, Partnering Brand defaults to its own brand, and Destination Brand picks the publisher. The publisher picks the placement, embed, and environment when it accepts.

On the post selection step, the publisher sees its own videos plus the partnering brand's videos it has shared access to. The advertiser sees its own approved videos. Next turns on once you select at least one post.

What it reports

Each package reports these measures against its forecast, so renewals rest on outcomes. Attribution: closed-loop commerce and conversion forecasts explains how commerce is attributed.

  • Views: how many times the Post was watched.
  • Engagement: how viewers responded to the Post.
  • Attributed commerce: sales linked to the Post through attribution.
  • Net margin against forecast: what the package returned compared with what you projected.

Reports > Revenue also breaks revenue down by package and partner.

In your Business Account, views on a live paid partnership are counted and shown on the paid partnership itself.

Build on it
