Dynamic In-Video Linkout
A product, offer, or destination attached to a tagged moment at serve time by Supervised Intelligence, so the same video sells different products on different pages and days.
A video carries tagged moments: the products, places, and mentions that Studio detects, which you can edit. When the video plays, Supervised Intelligence matches each moment to your catalog, a partner's catalog, or an affiliate network. The player then renders the linkout on that moment.
Octo, Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in your Business Account, proposes this capability when it finds a fit on your sites and apps. It completes the steps under Set it up from your brand context. Nothing goes live until you approve it. It's part of Monetize, and Dynamic in-video linkouts and affiliate commerce explains how linkouts resolve.
When to use it
Use it when your videos show things people can buy. It fits these cases:
- Catalog-driven brands and retailers: your catalog supplies the products.
- Direct brand deals: networks that sell to brands directly.
If you have no catalog, Affiliate Commerce resolves linkouts to affiliate networks and partner catalogs instead.
How it works
- Supervised Intelligence matches a moment using the placement context, the viewer's cohort, and availability. Supervised Intelligence: the orchestration and generative commerce layer explains this serve-time step.
- The player renders the linkout as buy, add to cart, save, or go to partner.
- Your own checkout is used when it's connected. Otherwise, affiliate links are used.
- Linkouts go live on tagged moments as soon as you publish. During playback, they follow the Linkout Delay you set under Settings > Linkout Controls.
- The click and any conversion are attributed, then reported with revenue and net margin. Attribution: closed-loop commerce and conversion forecasts explains how.
- When your catalog can't serve the intent, Supervised Intelligence can route it to large retail assistants and marketplaces under your agreement. Generative Commerce Routing covers this path.
Set it up
Octo proposes linkouts with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.
- Connect a catalog or an affiliate network under Monetize > Commerce. Learn how in Connect your website, app, and podcast feed.
- Set the default checkout behavior per placement: your checkout, partner checkout, or affiliate. Learn how in Dynamic in-video linkouts and affiliate commerce.
- Set margin minimums and exclusions. Learn how Supervised Intelligence applies them in Resolve.
Settings
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Resolution rules | How Supervised Intelligence matches a moment to a product, offer, or destination |
| Partner catalogs allowed | Which partners' catalogs can resolve on your placements |
| Minimum margin | The lowest margin a resolved product can carry |
| Exclusions | Products that never resolve |
| Default checkout | Your checkout, partner checkout, or affiliate, per placement |
Change these under Monetize > Commerce.
How linkouts look and open
Under Settings > Linkout Controls, you set how links in videos look, when they appear, and how they open. You set Mobile and Web separately.
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Customize Link out button | Add Arrow Icon, Corner Radius (px), Button Color, and Button Text Color. Changes apply across all platforms. |
| Linkout Delay | Custom shows links 1 to 10 seconds after the video plays. Immediately shows them as soon as it plays. |
| Link Redirection | In-app Browser opens links inside the app. External Browser opens them in an external browser. |
On Mobile, Linkout Delay also offers Always Visible, which shows links as soon as the video loads, with no transition. Web doesn't have this option.
Corner Radius, Button Color, and Button Text Color are required. Colors must be valid 6-digit HEX codes, and the button preview updates as you type.
A placement shows the links added to videos only when Show Linkouts is on in its Expand View tab. An embed has a Show Links switch that does the same.
What it reports
Linkout reporting shows these measures for each moment and each video. Margin reporting: revenue per impression and net margin on ad spend explains how net margin is calculated.
- Clicks: viewers who opened a linkout.
- Conversions: clicks that ended in a purchase or another tracked outcome.
- Revenue: what those conversions earned.
- Net margin: revenue after cost, per moment and video.
In your Business Account, Manage > Links lists each link used in your posts with its In-View, Clicks, and CTR (%) counts.
Build on it
