Audio + Video Dynamic Player
A player that plays a podcast or audio episode with Studio-generated visuals and switches between audio-first and video-first by the viewer's context (page, device, sound state).
The Dynamic Player plays your podcast or audio episodes inside a placement, with visuals that Studio generates. Studio turns each episode into chaptered visuals and clips. The player then decides, for each viewer, whether audio or video leads.
This capability arrives as a proposal when your network needs it, filled in from your brand context, and goes live when you confirm it. It's part of Onsite, and Studio explains how your podcasts and long-form sources become brand video.
When to use it
Use it when your content starts as audio. That covers podcast and radio brands, episode pages, and in-app listening. It also suits any page where the viewer may not have sound on.
- Episode pages: the player carries the full episode, with clips and chapters from Studio.
- Listening sessions on podcast sites: pair it with the Sticky Mini-Player, which keeps playing as the viewer scrolls or moves between pages.
- A new podcast network: Creators and podcasters: launch a podcast network in an afternoon walks through the full launch.
How it works
- You connect a podcast RSS feed or another audio source. Genuin reads it on a schedule, and new episodes land in Studio's inbox.
- Studio finds the strongest moments from the transcript and audio energy. It cuts clips, adds captions, and drafts titles in your brand voice.
- Each page type has a default mode, audio-first or video-first. The player switches between them by the viewer's page, device, and sound state.
- Listen time and watch time count together as per-minute engagement, the measure Maya is held to.
- In apps, today's mobile SDKs tie Genuin playback to your app's lifecycle. Pause and resume Genuin feeds with your app lifecycle explains what to call when your app goes to the background.
Set it up
Octo proposes the player with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.
- Connect the podcast RSS feed or audio source. Studio then generates chaptered visuals and clips for each episode. Learn how in Connect your website, app, and podcast feed.
- Register the placement and set its player to dynamic. Learn how in Register your placements on the Hierarchical Grid.
- Set the default mode for each page type, audio-first or video-first, under Controls > Feed settings. Learn how in Player Controls and Feed Settings.
Settings
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Player | Dynamic, the audio and video player |
| Mode | Audio, video, or auto |
| Default mode | Audio-first or video-first, for each page type |
Change the default mode per page type in Player Controls and Feed Settings, without code. With Canvas scheduling Studio, every new episode becomes clips automatically.
What it reports
Reports > Onsite shows these measures for each placement. Measure engagement explains how per-minute engagement is counted.
- Per-minute engagement: listen time and watch time, reported together as one measure.
- Mode switches: how often the player changes between audio-first and video-first.
- Chapter completion: completion for each chapter of an episode.
Add it to your site
The Web SDK renders this placement today. Embed the Genuin Web SDK on your website covers loading the script, and Add a Genuin placement to your website covers the placement and style IDs. Customize the Genuin video player sets sizes, tile layouts, and the profile menu.
The placement settings calls in the Business Account API are proposed, not live. Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap maps what you can call now to what's planned.
