Affiliate Commerce
Linkouts resolve to affiliate networks or partner catalogs when your own checkout doesn't carry the product, so the viewer still completes and you still earn.
Affiliate commerce lets a network sell from its videos without a catalog of its own. When a tagged moment matches a product you don't carry, Octo resolves the linkout to an affiliate network or a partner's catalog. You earn a commission or share on the sale.
This capability arrives as a proposal when your network needs it, filled in from your brand context, and goes live when you confirm it. It's part of Monetize, and Dynamic in-video linkouts and affiliate commerce explains how linkouts resolve.
When to use it
Use it when the products in your videos sell somewhere other than your own checkout.
| You are | What affiliate commerce adds |
|---|---|
| A media brand without a catalog | Earnings from products your videos show |
| A brand whose products sell through retailers | A path to the retailer that carries the product |
| A brand or retailer with a catalog | A fallback for products your checkout doesn't carry |
If you have your own catalog, the Dynamic In-Video Linkout uses your checkout first, and affiliates fill the gaps.
How it works
- At serve time, Octo matches each tagged moment using the placement context, the viewer's cohort, and availability. Octo: the orchestration and generative commerce layer explains this step.
- The fallback order decides where a linkout goes: your checkout first, then a partner catalog, then an affiliate network.
- Partner catalogs resolve only on placements where you allow them.
- When no catalog can serve the intent, Octo can route it to large retail assistants and marketplaces under your agreement. You still earn an affiliate or referral share. Generative Commerce Routing covers this path.
- Clicks and conversions are attributed and reported with revenue and net margin.
- Marketplace listings can show Affiliate and Commerce Link-Out as a capability that backs a package.
