Text-to-Video Explainers
Articles, show notes, and help content become narrated explainer clips in your brand voice.
Text-to-Video Explainers turn written content into short narrated videos. Studio reads the text, narrates it in your brand voice, and builds the visuals in the style you set. Each explainer waits in Drafts until you approve it.
This capability arrives as a proposal when your network needs it, filled in from your brand context, and goes live when you confirm it. It's part of Studio, and Studio: produce brand video from podcasts, long-form, and catalogs explains how text sits beside Studio's other inputs.
When to use it
Use it when much of your best content is written rather than recorded. It fits publishers, help centers, and B2B sites.
| Site | Text to start from | Player that fits |
|---|---|---|
| Publisher | Articles and show notes | Vertical Video Player Placement on article pages |
| Help center | Help articles | Horizontal Video Player Placement in the article body |
| B2B site | Articles and help content | A horizontal player on product demo pages |
If you have recorded webinars or demos as well, Clip Generation from Long-form cuts those into clips.
How it works
- You connect a text source, or paste text straight into Studio.
- Studio turns the text into a narrated explainer clip, in the voice, length, and visual style you set.
- Each clip gets a title, a caption, and topic tags in your brand voice. Brand guidelines you upload under Brand > Context shape them too.
- Studio proposes a group and placements by context match. It runs the brand safety baseline and flags anything that needs a human.
- Your edits in Drafts train Studio, and after a few dozen approvals most drafts need no edits.
- For a 16:9 player, Adaptation re-cuts vertical clips to landscape automatically.
Set it up
Octo proposes explainers with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.
- Connect a text source, or paste text in Studio.
- Choose Generate explainer.
- Approve the explainer in Studio > Drafts. Learn how your edits shape later drafts in Captions, Titles, and Brand Voice.
Settings
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Voice | The voice and tone of the narration |
| Length | How long each explainer runs |
| Visual style | How the explainer looks on screen |
Octo fills these from your brand context, and you change them when you review the proposal. The voice starts from your brand kit, where you pick plain, warm, expert, or playful in Set your brand identity: name, logo, colors, and voice.
What it reports
- Engagement by source article: how viewers engage with the explainers made from each article.
Engagement here means watch time per user per minute, with lift against a holdout and completion alongside it.
Reports > Engagement filters these by content source. Measure engagement: watch time, lift, and cohorts explains how each measure is counted.
Connect your systems
The live API covers the communities, groups, and posts your explainers land in.
- Create a community creates a community under your brand, with its type, access settings, and first members.
- Create a group in a community adds a group with its visibility and posting rules.
- Post a video to a group uploads a video and its thumbnail, then posts it to a group with a caption.
The Studio calls in the Business Account API are proposed, not live. Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap maps what you can call now to what's planned.
