Keywords Player

A player that appears only where a page's text matches keywords, entities, or products you define. It anchors video to the exact paragraph or term, so one tag covers a whole site.

The Keywords Player reads the text of each page and shows video only where that text matches your terms. It anchors the player at the matching paragraph or term, not in a fixed slot. One Keywords placement on a page type covers every page of that type.

This capability arrives as a proposal when your network needs it, filled in from your brand context, and goes live when you confirm it. It's part of Onsite, and Personalization and relevance explains how Maya ranks what a placement shows.

When to use it

Use it when you can't add a placement to every template. That covers large content sites, help centers, and retailers. It also suits entity-rich editorial about people, teams, products, and places.

Keyword feeds also reach beyond your site. When you distribute a keyword feed across the network, it tends to run in Keywords Players on partner pages that mention the term.

How it works

  • One Keywords placement sits on a page type in your Hierarchical Grid.
  • Each group carries a list of keywords and entities. You define the lists, or Maya derives them from the group's context.
  • Where a page's text matches a term, the player anchors to that paragraph or term. A page with no match shows no player.
  • A minimum match score sets how close a match must be, and a cap limits the players on one page.
  • A page can override the group lists with its own keywords.
Anchor styleWhere the player appears

Sidebar cardIn a card in the page's sidebar
In-text linkBehind a link on the matching term, which opens the player

Set it up

Octo proposes the placement with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.

  1. Register one Keywords placement on the page type. Learn how in Register your placements on the Hierarchical Grid.
  2. Define keyword and entity lists for each group under Communities > Groups, or let Maya derive them from group context. Learn how groups carry context in Brand communities and groups.
  3. Choose the anchor style: inline after the matching paragraph, a sidebar card, or an in-text link that opens the player.

What it reports

Reports > Onsite shows these measures for each Keywords placement. Measure engagement explains how engagement is counted.

  • Match rate: how often each keyword finds a match.
  • Players per page: how many players rendered on each page.
  • Engagement by anchor style: engagement for inline, sidebar, and in-text anchors.
  • Content gaps: keywords with no matching content, listed for Studio.

Add it to your site
