Choose your network model: Owned, Extended, Commerce, or Retail
When you finish, your network has a model, and BCC shows only the settings, demand sources, and reports that model uses. Your part takes about 3 minutes and can be changed later without losing anything.
Before you begin
- Know where your audience is today: mostly on your properties, mostly elsewhere, or both.
- Know whether you hold first-party purchase or loyalty data you are allowed to use for advertising.
Choose your path
| Model | Pick it when | What switches on |
|---|---|---|
| Owned Network | You want video on your own site and apps, with revenue share from Genuin's network demand. The default for creators and company websites. | Onsite embeds, network distribution, revenue share |
| Extended Network (Extended O&O) | You are a publisher or media company and want your brand to run as a destination across owned domains and partner inventory, operated by Genuin as a managed service. | Everything in Owned plus Extended O&O syndication, Paid Partner packages, ad server |
| Commerce Media Network | You are a consumer brand with an audience and first-party data and want shoppable placements onsite and reach offsite. | Everything in Extended plus shoppable player, in-video linkouts, ID graph, Octo |
| Retail Media Network | You are a retailer and want every impression across site, app, and partners priced to margin with closed-loop attribution. | Everything in Commerce plus partner ad server support, margin reporting, blocklists, AdCP listing |
What Octo does
- Octo recommends a model from what it has learned: company type, whether your audience is mostly on your properties, whether it found a catalog or loyalty program, and whether you have first-party purchase data you may use. The recommendation shows the table above with its pick highlighted and the reason in one line.
- Octo lists what the model switches on and which Get Started cards become required for it (Retail adds Add brand partners and demand partners and Sign your agreement and authorize sellers, for example).
What you approve
- The model. Pick a different card if you disagree; Octo re-plans the later steps around it.
- Choose Approve model. BCC now shows only the settings, demand sources, and reports that model uses, and Octo's checklist on the BCC home screen mirrors these five steps.
Make Octo smarter
- Tell Octo where your audience is and what data you hold ("80 percent of our views are on YouTube"; "we have a loyalty program but no purchase file") under Brand → Context; it changes the recommendation and the defaults it proposes in Step 5.
Need help? Octo is available 24/7 in BCC and on every page of these docs. Ask it in plain language; when the answer needs a person, Octo brings the right account manager, developer, or Ops engineer into the same thread and stays on it until it is solved. Every Business Account owner has this, on every plan (see 24/7 Octo-enabled support: how Octo brings in account managers, developers, and Ops).
What you get
- A model-specific checklist in the BCC home screen that mirrors these five steps.
- Defaults for demand sources (Owned starts with revenue share only; Retail starts with everything off until you authorize sellers in Sign your agreement and authorize sellers).
