Dynamic Feed Tag
A tag whose content Maya fills at serve time from the destination page's context and the viewer's cohort, instead of a fixed clip.
A dynamic feed tag carries no fixed creative. Each time it serves, Maya, Genuin's relevance engine, picks videos from the groups you allow for that page and that viewer. You decide which groups it draws from and which brand safety profile applies.
This capability arrives as a proposal when your network needs it, filled in from your brand context, and goes live when you confirm it. It's part of Offsite, and Personalization and relevance: how Maya ranks every feed explains the signals Maya ranks on.
When to use it
Use it when one tag runs across many pages you can't plan clip by clip. Dynamic feed is a content source, so the tag still runs as a VAST Video Tag or a JavaScript Display Tag.
| Case | Why a dynamic feed fits |
|---|---|
| Broad reach buy across many contexts | Maya matches each serve to the destination page |
| Always-on brand presence on partner sites | The content follows each page and viewer instead of one clip |
How it works
- At serve time, the buyer's placement passes the destination page's context through to the tag.
- Maya ranks videos from your allowed groups for that context and for the viewer's cohort. Page context comes first among its signals, followed by each video's group and topic.
- Cohorts come from your audience segments, built from onsite, offsite, and offline signals. Maya uses them only under your agreement and the viewer's consent.
- Without consent, the tag renders without personalization, as Macro and Consent Passthrough describes.
- Maya applies your brand safety profile and exclusions to every pick.
- Pacing and a frequency cap control how often the tag serves.
Set it up
Octo proposes the tag with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.
- Choose Dynamic feed as the content source when you create the tag. Learn how in Offsite: generate IAB-standard tags for your media plan.
- Pick the groups Maya can draw from and the brand safety profile. Brand Safety Profile explains what the profile describes.
- Set pacing and frequency.
Settings
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Group allow-list | The groups Maya can draw videos from |
| Context passthrough | Passes the buyer's placement context to Maya at serve time |
| Brand safety profile | The safety rules applied to every pick |
| Pacing | How delivery spreads over time |
| Frequency cap | How often the tag serves to the same viewer |
You set these on the tag under Offsite > Tags, without code. Groups are the units Maya draws from, so Brand communities and groups helps you decide which ones to allow.
What it reports
Reports > Offsite shows these for your dynamic feed tags. Measure engagement: watch time, lift, and cohorts explains how engagement is counted.
- Groups served: which groups served where, by destination.
- Engagement by destination context: watch time per user per minute, broken down by the context of the destination page.
Build on it
The tag runs from Brand Control Center and needs no code. On your own pages, the same contextual ranking runs in Genuin embeds today.
- Deliver contextual feeds with page, user, and location context shows how a page passes context to an embed or placement.
- Embed the Genuin Web SDK on your website covers loading the script and adding embeds.
- Serve your first ad covers the live ad surfaces, such as in-feed ads and IAB units.
- Receive engagement events in your own analytics sends viewer events to your analytics tool and warehouse.
The tag and feed calls in the Business Account API are proposed, not live. Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap maps what you can call now to what's planned.
