Embed support by platform
Reference for which layouts, feed types, sign-in options, playback controls, and measurement each Genuin surface supports, from the Web SDK and mobile SDKs to offsite tags.
You configure an embed or placement once in your Business Account, and whichever SDK the surface uses renders it. Genuin separates what the embed is (content, rules, and governance) from where it renders (platform-specific behavior).
The content scope, feed logic, moderation and brand-safety rules, and reporting model are shared across surfaces. What differs is the rendering: a browser script on the web, native views in apps, and fixed-size units offsite.
Embeds are part of Onsite; for the whole product, see Onsite: what it does and where to start. For how an embed is built and served, see How embeds work.
Onsite embeds and offsite extensions
Cross-platform embeds are onsite first. They run inside the sites and apps you own and stay governed in your Business Account.
- Onsite embeds render on desktop web, mobile web, and native iOS and Android apps. They support the full range of feed intelligence, engagement, and continuity features.
- Offsite extensions carry selected feeds to media and advertising partners, where enabled. They're constrained, partner-safe renderings with limited interaction and tracking.
Tip
Cross-platform embeds aren't the same as offsite ad units. Offsite support extends the onsite embed model; it doesn't replace it.
Common uses include the same brand or community feed on desktop and mobile web, identical feeds inside iOS and Android apps, and campaign or seasonal embeds across several owned touchpoints. Visitors get a familiar experience as they move between devices, and you keep control of it.
Surfaces
| Surface | How it's delivered | Requirements | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Desktop and mobile web | The Web SDK script, pasted from the Web tab of the embed or placement code panel | A page where you can add HTML; the same script serves phones and desktops | Discovery pages, product detail pages, editorial hubs, mobile category pages, and campaign landing pages |
| Android | The Genuin Android SDK from Maven Central (com.begenuin core, ui, camera, and ai) | Android 7.0 (API 24) or later; Kotlin or Java; Views or Jetpack Compose | App home feeds, in-app social experiences, and post-purchase journeys |
| iOS | The Genuin iOS SDK from the public GitHub repo genuininc/genuin_ios_sdk, as a Swift package or as the GenuinCore, GenuinUI, GenuinCamera, and GenuinAI pods | Deployment target iOS 13.0. The SDK runs on iOS 15 or later, so an app that targets iOS 13 or 14 wraps the import in an availability check for iOS 15.0. Swift, portrait, iPhone | App home feeds, in-app social experiences, and post-purchase journeys |
| React Native and Flutter | Wrapper packages over the native SDKs | The Android and iOS requirements above; a Material theme on Android | Cross-platform apps |
| Angular | The Web SDK wrapped in a component, from the Angular tab | Same as web | Angular sites |
| Offsite units | IAB Standard Tags built under Grow > Off Site > Extended O&O, placed by media partners | A partner page or ad server that accepts a script tag | Media partners, campaign amplification, and paid distribution |
We recommend the JavaScript embed from the Web tab for the best compatibility and viewing experience. Iframe implementations can have platform-specific limits, particularly on iOS devices, that affect video playback and rendering.
To install each SDK, see Embed the Genuin Web SDK on your website, Integrate the Genuin Android SDK, Integrate the Genuin iOS SDK, Integrate the Genuin SDK with React Native apps, and Integrate the Genuin SDK with Flutter apps.
Business Account also gives ready-made snippets under Build > Publish Brand Community > SDK Integration. They cover iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter, for both the Live and QA environments. Each one includes your API key, a copy button, and a link to the developer documentation.
What each surface adds
| Surface | Integration | Capabilities |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop web | JavaScript embed | All web layouts; brand, community, group, and contextual feeds; full engagement (reactions, comments, shares); linkouts and commerce actions; first-party tracking and reporting |
| Mobile web | Responsive JavaScript embed | Vertical video (9:16) optimization; scroll-first interaction; tap-to-expand playback; performance-aware loading |
| Native apps | Genuin iOS SDK and Genuin Android SDK | Native UI rendering; contextual and continuity feeds; deep links to communities and profiles; app-safe autoplay rules; device-level tracking |
| Offsite | Offsite extensions; IAB-compatible units, where enabled | Fixed-size units; controlled engagement actions; partner-safe autoplay and redirects; external tracking integrations |
Offsite units don't support contextual or continuity feeds or cross-session memory, and their engagement and moderation are limited.

Playback and engagement
| Control | Onsite (web and apps) | Offsite IAB tag |
|---|---|---|
| Autoplay | Set per embed. Browsers allow autoplay only with the sound off, so web playback starts muted and the viewer taps to unmute. Settings > Player Controls can delay autoplay and turn it off for the brand. | Autoplay Video toggle; muted |
| Loop | Loop Video per embed | Not available |
| Video cell shape | 9:16 by default and preferred; 1:1, 2:3, 3:2, 16:9, 4:3, 3:4, 3:5, and 2:1 per embed; adaptive video display | Fixed unit size |
| Engagement tools | Repost, Spark, Comment, Share, and Intelligence, each switchable per embed | Enable Engagement Tools toggle |
| Links added to videos | Shown outside the video or as an overlay; external linkouts configurable | Not available |
| Shoppable links and calls to action | Supported | Not available |
| Expand and floating views | Per embed | Enable Ad Expansion toggle |
| Navigation out of the embed | Enable Redirection to the community, group, or member page, switchable for each | Redirect to Profile toggle |
Autoplay rules vary by platform and operating system, and the SDKs apply app-safe behavior in apps. For the brand-wide player settings, see Player Controls and Feed Settings. For the overlays on embedded videos, see Control what viewers see and can do on embedded videos.
Offsite units
An IAB Standard Tag packages posts you select into a unit for a partner's page. You build it under Grow > Off Site > Extended O&O.
- Sizes: 300×600 (the default), 300×250, 320×100, and 320×50. 728×90 is listed but isn't available.
- Budget: each tag has a budget, and views are billed by CPM, where a view is 3 seconds of autoplay.
- End: a tag runs until its budget is spent or its end date passes.
Paid partnerships and ad creatives under the same Off Site menu are the campaign and creative layers around tags. Learn more in Create an ad creative for partner pages and Offsite: what it does and where to start.
Configuration in your Business Account
One embed configuration in your Business Account drives every surface. In it, you define:
- The embed type: brand, community, or group feed.
- Layout and view settings.
- Engagement and redirection rules.
- Media playback behavior.
- Tracking and reporting controls.
Genuin handles the platform differences automatically through the web embed logic, responsive rendering rules, SDK-level constraints, and offsite safety limits. For every option, see the Embed configuration reference.
Measurement
Cross-platform embeds share one impression and view tracking model. Reporting covers engagement by platform, conversion and linkout attribution, and comparisons of how the same embed performs on each surface. Reporting tools are available only onsite.
| Surface | Where to look | What's counted |
|---|---|---|
| Web and app embeds | Grow > On Site > Embed, per embed or Global Analytics | Unique users, embed impressions, video impressions, watch duration, completion rate |
| Communities overall | Report | Views, users, watch time, completion rate, interactions, retention, earnings |
| Offsite tags | The tag's own analytics under Extended O&O, plus your Google Tag Manager container if you enter its ID | Tag views at the 3-second mark, clicks, spend against budget |
Limitations
- No iframe option in the code panel. The Web SDK renders into a
divit owns; the only iframe it uses is for whole community pages it loads itself. - Muted autoplay on the web is a browser rule, not a Genuin setting. Autoplay restrictions vary by browser and operating system.
- Portrait only on iOS, and iPhone only.
- Push notifications are app-only. The Web SDK has no notification channel.
- Grid is Android-only as an embed layout. On the web, the equivalent is a Standard Wall.
- Generative Contextual Continuity can require SDK support on mobile web and in apps.
- Offsite tags show selected posts, not live or contextual feeds. Engagement and reporting are limited offsite, offsite environments enforce stricter controls, and 728×90 isn't available.
- Full moderation and auditability apply onsite.
To keep pages fast, avoid heavy layouts on low-bandwidth mobile connections and turn on floating playback only where you need it.
