One word keeps coming up over and over again..
One word keeps coming up over and over again.. and starting to take its place atop the list of regular buzzy words we're all getting used to hearing these days. I counted the word "autonomous" at least a dozen times. Yet I don't think I heard the workd "bounded" once. That gap is the whole story of where this industry is heading astray Autonomy without bounds isn't intelligence. It's speed pointed in an unknown direction. Knowledge without ownership isn't trust. It's a guess dressed up as an answer. The paid sponsors in the daily marketing and tech and creative newsletters I get daily now are overwhelming us with offers of more autonomy. Bigger agents. Fewer humans. Trust us, it'll be fine. So what stops this from going off the rails? The fix isn't a smaller ambition. It's a clearer boundary. Bound what the agent can do. Ground what it can know. Both owned by the brand. The companies treating that as the starting point, not the afterthought, are the ones who will still be standing when the hype clears. This was never a story about how autonomous AI can get. It's a story about who's still holding the leash.
