Run your members' posts across your website

Package members' posts into an Off Site unit with a call to action, tracking, and engagement controls, then embed its code on a website or partner page.

Off Site in your Business Account packages up to 10 of your members' posts into a fixed-size video unit, which Business Account calls an ad creative. You add ad copy, a call to action, and tracking. Genuin's offsite script then renders the unit wherever you paste its code: your own pages, a partner's pages, or an ad server.

You don't design anything from scratch. You promote real content from your social experience and keep full control over tracking, calls to action, and how the unit looks. Off Site is part of Offsite; for the whole product, see Offsite: what it does and where to start.

Create an ad creative

  1. In your Business Account, go to Grow > Off Site > Ad Creatives and click + New Ad.
Step 1: Click + New Ad above the Ad Creatives list to start a creative.
  1. Find the posts to use: search for them directly, apply filters, or hover over a post to check its community or group name.
  2. Select up to 10 posts for the unit to play.
Step 3: Search, filter, and select the posts the unit plays.
  1. Click Next.

Add the post details

The Additional Details step gives each selected post a row. Fill in the fields to improve performance and tracking, then click Next.

FieldWhat it does
Ad CopyA short introduction or description shown with the post, which gives the content context and attracts attention
Call-to-ActionA button with a Button name and a Destination URL, such as Shop Now, Learn More, or Explore Collection
Fetch MetadataRetrieves the metadata associated with the content: it replaces your ad copy with the title of the linked page, which keeps the post and the creative consistent
HashtagsUp to 3 hashtags that improve categorization and discoverability
Pixel URLA tracking pixel that monitors user behavior and campaign performance, such as page views, button clicks, and conversion actions
Each selected post gets its own row of ad copy, call to action, hashtags, and pixel.

Customize the creative

Before you publish, set how the unit looks and what it tracks. A preview beside the settings shows the unit at size.

  1. Enter a unique Ad Name to identify the creative in your ad list.
  2. (Optional) Enter a Google Tag Manager ID to manage tracking tags and analytics across your placements.
Step 2: Set the tracking ID, size, and button delay while the preview shows the unit at size.
  1. Choose the Size that fits the spot on your page: 300×600 or 300×250.
  2. Choose a Button Delay of Immediately, 3 seconds, 4 seconds, or 5 seconds. A delay lets viewers engage with the content before the call-to-action button appears.
  3. Select Redirect to Profile to send viewers who tap the profile icon to the creator's profile. When it's off, the profile link is inactive.
Step 5: Redirect to Profile, Enable Engagement Tools, and Autoplay Video are all switched on here.
  1. Select Enable Engagement Tools to show Repost, Spark, Comments, and Share. When they're off, the unit works as a more traditional display format.
  2. Select Autoplay Video to start the video when the unit loads. Autoplay starts muted. When it's off, viewers start playback themselves.

Change the posts (Optional)

To use different posts, click Edit Posts and select others. The rest of the configuration stays, so you don't recreate the creative.

Edit Posts swaps the posts without losing the settings.

Generate the embed code

  1. Click Save. When you edit an existing creative, the button reads Save and Update.
Step 1: Save the creative, then open its code.
  1. Click View Code. The Web Ad Creative Code panel shows the embed tag.
Step 2: The generated code carries the creative's ID and the current script URL.
  1. Copy the code and paste it into your page wherever you want the unit to appear.

The unit then displays directly on your page. The parts that matter are a container, the offsite script, and a click handler:

Ad creative embed code
html
<script src="https://tpc.googlesyndication.com/pagead/gadgets/html5/api/exitapi.js"></script>
<div class="gen-ext" id="gen-ext-1" data-tag-id="<<AD_CREATIVE_ID>>" style="width: 300px; height: 600px;"></div>
<script src="<<GENUIN_OFFSITE_SCRIPT_URL>>/gen_ext.min.js" defer></script>
<script>
  document.addEventListener('click', function (e) {
    if (e.target.closest('[data-cta="true"]') && typeof ExitApi !== 'undefined') ExitApi.exit();
  });
</script>

Copy the code from the panel rather than retyping it. The script's filename, container class, and attribute names are commitments to partners and don't change between releases, so code you paste today keeps working.

How the unit loads

When the page loads, the offsite script:

  • Finds every container: It scans the page for elements with the gen-ext class and renders an isolated player into each one. Several creatives can sit on one page, each with its own data-tag-id and a unique id.
  • Loads the creative by ID: It asks Genuin for the creative's posts, call to action, button delay, and engagement settings. A deactivated creative returns nothing, and the container stays empty.
  • Picks a layout from the container size: A 300×600 or 300×250 box gets the full player. The script also renders 320-wide mobile units, which Business Account offers through IAB Standard Tags rather than ad creatives.
  • Plays the posts: Video streams at the lowest rendition with a capped buffer, and only the visible slide loads. That keeps the unit under Chrome's Heavy Ad limits, which would otherwise remove it. If two units are on one page, unmuting or playing one pauses the other.
  • Shows the call to action: The button appears after the delay you set. A click on it passes through Google's Exit API, which counts as the creative's click-through in Google Ad Manager. On a plain page, the link opens directly.
  • Fires your tracking: Each post's pixel URL is requested when that post plays, and your Google Tag Manager container loads with the unit. Every player event also goes to Genuin's analytics, which feed the dashboard tiles.

Where the unit can run

The last row is how a publisher runs the unit as one source among several: the script exposes a fill callback and a no-fill callback. When members' posts run on a partner's pages, learn how consent and attribution work in Creator Content on Partner Pages.

Manage existing ad creatives

All ad creatives are listed on the Off Site dashboard in your Business Account. Each card shows the creative's name, its number of posts, and its size.

Each card's menu edits or deactivates the creative, and the tiles report on it.

Edit an ad creative

  1. Click the card's ⋯ (More) menu.
  2. Select Edit Ad.

You can update the ad details, the call-to-action configuration, the creative settings, and the post selection. Every placed unit picks up the change at its next page load, and the code on the page stays the same.

Deactivate an ad creative

  1. Click the card's ⋯ (More) menu.
  2. Select Deactivate.

The unit stops appearing on your website: the script finds nothing for the creative's ID and leaves each container empty. The analytics stay readable.

Reactivate an ad creative

  1. Click the card's ⋯ (More) menu.
  2. Select Reactivate.

The unit displays again with the same configuration at its next page load.

Read the analytics

The panel beside the Ad Creatives list reports on one creative or on all of them. Pick a date range and click Apply. By default, the range is the last quarter.

TileWhat it counts
Tag impressionsTimes the unit rendered on a page
Video ImpressionsTimes a post in the unit started playing
Unique usersDistinct viewers in the range
Total watch timeHours of video played, summed across viewers
Video Completion rateShare of plays that reached the end
Engagement rateShare of viewers who used an engagement tool
CTAsClicks on the call-to-action button
SpendingSpend attributed to the creative in the range

The player reports the events behind these tiles as they happen: the unit displayed, a video started, each quartile, a completion, an expand to full view, and a call-to-action click. Your own pixel and Google Tag Manager container see the same moments from your side.

What viewers see

After you embed the code, the unit appears directly on your website. Viewers can watch the posts, use the engagement tools if you enabled them, click the call-to-action button, and open the unit in full-screen mode.

Each post in the unit stays a post in your social experience, with its own analytics. Editing the creative never changes the posts, and a post removed from its community drops out of the creative.

A paid partnership carries up to 20 posts, and posts marked as house ads can't be selected. When your videos run on another brand's site, you create it from Grow > Off Site > Paid Partnership. The publisher picks the placements, embeds, and environments when it accepts the proposal.

Limitations

  • 10 posts, two sizes, one size per creative: A second slot size needs a second creative.
  • Muted autoplay: Browsers block autoplay with sound, so the viewer taps to unmute.
  • No delete: Deactivate a creative you no longer need.
  • Clicks are reported where the unit runs: Genuin counts the call-to-action click. Conversions after it are counted by your pixel or your tag manager.
  • Heavy Ad limits apply: The player is built to stay under them. Adding more scripts inside the same ad frame can push it over, and Chrome then removes the unit.
