Retailers may be the first companies to fully unlock the power of AI media. In this clip from Genuin Connections, AI media analyst Debra Aho Williamson explains why retailers — along with travel and electronics brands — are among the earliest adopters of advertising and engagement inside AI platforms. But the bigger opportunity may actually be onsite AI experiences. Companies like Amazon and Walmart are already integrating AI assistants directly into their platforms — including Amazon’s Rufus and Walmart’s Sparky — helping customers research products and make purchasing decisions without leaving the environment they already trust. That matters because AI adoption accelerates when it’s embedded into familiar consumer experiences. Rather than forcing users to change behavior, retailers are bringing AI directly into places where people already shop, search, and make decisions.
