Optimize your social experience for search and LLM discovery
Learn what Genuin adds to every page of a hosted social experience for search engines, then submit the sitemap and prepare it for AI crawlers and LLMs.
Search discovery no longer runs only through search engines. AI-powered systems and large language models (LLMs) also surface and reference web content.
Genuin builds every page of your hosted social experience to be indexable by both. Each page gets optimized titles, structured metadata, keyword-aligned descriptions, and crawlable URLs, so Google and Microsoft's search infrastructure can index it. Your part is to submit the sitemap, decide which AI crawlers can read your pages, and structure your content so AI systems can interpret it.
This page is part of Onsite; for the whole product, see Onsite: what it does and where to start. For how crawlers read each page in detail, see How content in your social experience is indexed by search engines and AI.
What Genuin adds to each page
Each page type carries metadata for indexing and for previews when someone shares a link:
| Page type | SEO attributes |
|---|---|
| Home page | description, og:title, og:description |
| Community page | description, og:title, og:description, og:url |
| Group page | description, og:title, og:description, og:url |
| Post or video page | description, og:title, og:video metadata |
| Brand profile page | description, og:title, og:description |
| User profile page | description, og:title, og:description |
These attributes improve how your pages appear in search results and social sharing previews, and how search engines index them.
You set what a shared brand URL shows in your Business Account, under Settings > Brand Elements > Customize Web CTAs. Image for Shared URL holds the Page Title and Meta Description, and Preview Metadata shows the card people see. Business Account checks the meta description's length.
Video pages carry extra metadata, so videos are discoverable across social networks and search engines:
| Attribute | Purpose |
|---|---|
| og:video | Defines the video asset |
| og:video:url | Gives the video source URL |
| og:video:secure_url | Gives a secure playback link |
| twitter:player | Enables a video preview on social platforms |
Page performance
Pages are optimized for two performance metrics that affect search:
| Metric | What it measures |
|---|---|
| Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) | How fast the main content loads |
| Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) | How stable the page elements stay while the page loads |
Performance scores align with the benchmarks in Google PageSpeed Insights.
What crawlers can reach
Every content type in your hosted social experience is crawlable: the home page, community pages, group pages, video posts, user profiles, and brand profiles.
Genuin serves a sitemap index at /sitemap/index.xml on your domain, and the domain's robots.txt points to it. Profile and brand pages aren't listed in the sitemap; crawlers reach them through links.
Submit your sitemap
Submitting the sitemap lets search engines discover and index every page of your hosted social experience. Submit it once you've white-labelled your domain; learn how in White-label your hosted social experience. If you white-label after submitting, submit again for the new domain.

Allow AI crawlers
AI-driven discovery systems, such as those from OpenAI and Perplexity AI, crawl websites to understand their content. Their crawlers follow robots.txt instructions to decide which pages they can access.
This example keeps every crawler out of a /private/ directory and gives GPTBot, OpenAI's crawler, access to the whole site:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /private/
User-agent: GPTBot
Allow: /By default, the robots.txt on your hosted social experience allows every crawler, AI crawlers included. Business Account has no robots.txt editor, so to block a crawler or a path there, send the rules you want to support@begenuin.com. Crawlers read the change at their next fetch.
Add LLM files to your website
Two files help AI systems understand a website. Host them on your own website, such as yourdomain.com:
| File | Location | What it contains |
|---|---|---|
| llms.txt | yourdomain.com/llms.txt | A lightweight guide to the website's purpose, content structure, and important sections |
| llms-full.txt | yourdomain.com/llms-full.txt | A more detailed version, with complete site documentation, structured references, and content policies |
Your hosted social experience's domain doesn't serve these files, so link your social experience's URLs from the files on your own website.
To help AI systems find and process the files, add them to your website's sitemap:
<url>
<loc>https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt</loc>
</url>Structure content for AI answers
Two practices shape how AI search uses your content:
- Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) structures content so AI systems can interpret and summarize it. Give communities and groups a clear structure, use a clear taxonomy, and label content sections well. Learn more about brand categories and topics and how to create communities and groups.
- Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) optimizes content to appear as direct answers in AI systems and search assistants. Structured content and documentation help AI models extract accurate information when they answer a question.
For what AI assistants read on each video page and what you control, see Getting discovered on LLMs.
Limitations
- No robots.txt editor. Rules for your hosted social experience go through support.
- No llms.txt or llms-full.txt on your hosted social experience's domain. Host them on your own website.
- Profile and brand pages aren't in the sitemap. Crawlers reach them through links.
- One sitemap per domain. A sitemap submitted for the default domain doesn't carry over to a white-label domain.
