🧠 Let’s clear up some common misconceptions about OCD. So often, people throw around the term “OCD” casually, using it to describe someone who’s just neat or particular. But OCD is a serious mental health condition, not an adjective. There’s also a lot of misunderstanding about how OCD presents and what differentiates OCD from normal childhood behavior. Many toddlers and young children have strong preferences for things being a certain way, like how their toys are lined up, or how their food is served (raise your hand if you’re child has had a tantrum because you peeled their banana for them🙋🏽♀️). In this week’s PedsDocTalk Podcast episode🎙, I invited Michelle Massi, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, from @anxietytherapyla, to discuss OCD and dispel some of these misconceptions. We take a dive deep into what OCD *actually* looks like, including key features, signs to watch for (especially in kids), and effective strategies to manage it. Whether you’re looking for clarity or ways to support someone, this episode is for you! To give it a listen and get a link to the episode sent directly to your DMs, comment or DM me “PODCAST LINK”. Do you or a loved one have OCD? Or have you ever worried your child may be showing signs of it? And if you listened to the episode be sure to let us know what you thought about it in the comments below!
