IndiGo’s week-long disruption escalated on Thursday as widespread cancellations and delays affected more than 1,000 passengers across India. The airline reported over 300 scrapped flights in a single day, with Delhi witnessing the highest impact: 67 cancellations, followed by Bengaluru (42), Hyderabad (40) and Mumbai (33). The DGCA has now opened an investigation and sought a mitigation plan, flagging concerns over crew availability and compliance with newly enforced FDTL duty-time rules. Adding to the strain, a malfunction in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) forced air traffic controllers to prepare flight plans manually, slowing departures across multiple airports. Passenger complaints mounted through the day, with many stranded overnight or denied boarding after sudden schedule changes.
