Community Roles and Creator Tiers

Host, Contributor, Member creator, Partner, and Buyer roles inside communities, separate from Business Account roles.

Community roles decide who can post, place content, or buy inside each of your communities. They cover creators, partners, and buyers, while Business Account roles cover your own team. Genuin proposes the people, their tiers, and the creator share, so earnings are tracked from the first post.

This capability arrives as a proposal when your network needs it, filled in from your brand context, and goes live when you confirm it. It's part of Controls, and Creator programs and Quests explains how tiers, Quests, and rewards work together.

When to use it

Use it in any community with creators, partners, or buyers. Creator tiers come with the invitation, and the Partner and Buyer roles come from your partnerships and Marketplace.

RoleWhat it can do
HostGo live, pin, feature, and answer Q&A; posts go straight to feed
ContributorPost to assigned groups; posts go straight to feed
Member creatorPost to open groups; posts go to the moderation queue first
PartnerPlace content in named groups
BuyerSee and purchase packages

How it works

  • Octo proposes the people who post. They include hosts and talent from your site and video credits, employees from your directory, and the superfans who comment most.
  • Each person gets a tier and the groups they can post into. A first Quest, a brief with a deadline and a reward, goes out with the invitations.
  • A person can hold different roles in different communities.
  • Partner content stays under your rules. It can't bypass your moderation or your brand safety profile.
  • Creator profiles appear on their posts with your brand kit.
  • Record your talent, and anyone who must never be invited, under Brand > Context. Octo respects both lists when it proposes creators.

Set it up

Octo proposes the roles with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.

  1. Assign a tier to each creator when you invite them. Learn how in Invite creators, hosts, and contributors.
  2. Set Partner and Buyer roles through partnerships and Marketplace. Learn how in Add brand partners and demand partners and Marketplace: list packages and transact with demand partners.
  3. Give a person a different role in each community where they need one.

Choose Approve and invite to send the invitations. New creators are proposed as they emerge.

SettingWhat it controls
Tier per groupThe tier a creator holds in each group: Host, Contributor, or Member creator
Posting rightsWho can post into a group, such as approved creators only

Groups that take invited creators need posting rights set to approved creators first. Upload your videos or connect your social profile sets up those groups. You can add or remove anyone before you approve.

What it reports

The Creators report breaks creator activity out by tier, and Reports has a view for each creator. Revenue reporting, payouts, and the Creator Wallet explains how earnings settle.

  • Active creators and posts per creator: how much each tier contributes.
  • Approval rate: how often creator posts are approved.
  • Views and watch time: what each creator's posts draw.
  • Earned revenue: what each creator earns, settled into their Creator Wallet.

Connect your systems

Community roles run in Brand Control Center and need no code. Add members to a community onboards accounts or phone numbers from a CRM or signup flow. Add moderators to a community gives accounts the moderator role. Update a group and its members adds or removes group members. How Auto Login works explains how members sign in from your backend, so they can post.

The creator and role calls in the Business Account API are proposed, not live. Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap maps what you can call now to what's planned.
