Consumers freed from complicated taxes, says PM Modi on GST reforms As GST reform is set to kick in tomorrow, PM Modi termed it as ‘GST saving festival” Earlier this month, Nirmala Sitharaman announced the slashing of the 12% and 28% GST slabs. This effectively paves the way for a broad two-slab structure of 5% and 18%. The 40% slab will continue to apply on luxury and sin goods, including tobacco products and aerated sugar drinks. The reforms are expected to bring relief to a wide range of products from household goods to services.
