High prices slow #Dhanteras gold buying #Gold demand eased on October 18, 2025 as rates stayed near record highs. Traders said many buyers exchanged old jewellery or switched to silver instead. According to the All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council, gold sales were down 10-15% year-on-year in volume, though overall value rose because of higher prices. Local gold closed on October 17 at about Rs 1.27 lakh per 10 grams after touching a record Rs 1.32 lakh—more than 60% higher than last Dhanteras. Dhanteras marks the start of the 5-day #Diwali festival in the world’s second-largest gold market; this year, many households chose to wait or buy silver.
