After securing just 3.5% of the vote and failing to win a single seat, the Jan Suraaj Party has acknowledged its electoral shortcomings in the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls. Party founder Prashant Kishor admitted responsibility for the outcome, stating: ‘We came to Bihar three years ago to change the system, but could not even change the government.’ He pointed to alleged systemic advantages enjoyed by the ruling National Democratic Alliance—including promises of large-scale financial incentives to voters—as key factors in the defeat. Kishor affirmed that while his party did not engage in identity-based or communal politics, its message did not resonate sufficiently with voters. He pledged to “work twice as hard” moving forward, including a one-day fast to reflect on the setback and recommit to his vision for Bihar’s governance.
