The massive ₹6,500-crore Zojila Tunnel project in Jammu and Kashmir is set to transform connectivity between Srinagar and Ladakh. Stretching 13.15 kilometres, it is the longest bi-directional road tunnel in Asia and among the world’s highest-altitude tunnels. The all-weather strategic route will ensure uninterrupted civilian and military movement throughout the year, ending Ladakh’s winter isolation. The tunnel is also expected to boost tourism, trade and faster defence logistics in the sensitive border region.
