Six labourers were killed after a section of an under-construction bridge over the Betwa River collapsed in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district late Thursday night during heavy rain and strong winds. Rescue teams, including SDRF personnel, worked through the night and continued operations on Friday amid fears that more workers may still be trapped beneath the debris. The 800-metre bridge project, underway since 2024, was meant to improve connectivity between villages in the region.
