🦿 Partial vs Total Knee Replacement: Making an Informed Decision . Partial Knee Replacement (Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty, UKA) and Total #KneeReplacement may both be a consideration for some patients. Research from multiple high-quality studies show that #PartialKneeReplacement patients typically experience: - Shorter hospital stays #kneepainrelief - Faster initial recovery - Less post-op pain - Better range of motion early - More natural knee feeling - Quicker return to daily activities . However, #TotalKneereplacement offers: - Lower revision rates long-term - Better predictability for extensive arthritis - More comprehensive solution for widespread knee damage . The key factor? Location and extent of arthritis. Partial replacement is ideal for patients with isolated arthritis in one compartment, while Total Replacement is better suited for those with widespread arthritis affecting multiple areas of the knee. Studies show that Partial Replacement patients report higher satisfaction rates initially, with up to 75% being “very satisfied” vs. 62% for Total Replacement. Both procedures demonstrate excellent long-term outcomes, with >90% of implants lasting 15+ yrs. Interestingly, Partial procedures are becoming more popular, but still account for only about 8-10% of all knee replacements. The best choice depends on your specific condition, age, activity level, and goals. It’s important to consult with an experienced knee surgeon who performs both procedures regularly to determine your optimal solution. . 👇 Partial or Total, SHARE your #KneeReplacement experience & insights
