#Maharashtra has temporarily suspended the use of gas-based cremation furnaces amid tightening #LPG supplies linked to the West Asia crisis. In #Bengaluru, Vidyarthi Bhavan, an iconic restaurant chain known for its masala dosas since 1943, has warned it could face closure as shortages of commercial LPG cylinders disrupt operations. In other parts of the country, #Indians have been seen queuing at gas distribution centres, while some shopkeepers have shifted to cooking on wood and coal. Oil minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said there is no LPG shortage for household use, even as parts of the hospitality sector say they are struggling to secure cylinders. #Restaurants and hotels across cities have warned of disruptions and possible shutdowns, and authorities have set up a panel to review industry requests. The disruptions follow govt restrictions on commercial LPG consumption after the conflict triggered by US and Israel’s attacks on Iran halted ship movements through the Strait of Hormuz, a route that handles over 80% of India’s LPG imports.
