How high is your number? What can you see without your glasses? Phone? Shampoo bottles? The word nearsighted can be very confusing. For people with a low power prescriptions they can see clearly up close but have blurred distance vision. But for people who have high myopia, extreme nearsightedness,even their up close vision is affected. They have to bring things up really close to see. And being above a -6.00 puts you at increased risk for vision threatening consequences like retinal tears, detachments, myopic maculopathy, cataracts and glaucoma.
