🤖 Bone Pins & Arrays: Precision Behind Robotic Hip and Knee Replacement . Ever wondered how robotic-assisted #jointreplacement achieves precision in the operating room? During robotic-assisted procedures, specially designed tracking arrays act as GPS markers for the surgical robot. These arrays, mounted on pins carefully placed in the bone, create a real-time 3D map of your joint anatomy. Think of them as sophisticated motion sensors that help the robot understand exactly where your bones are at all times during surgery. . The process starts with strategic pin placement - either through small separate incisions or within the main surgical site. These pins serve as secure anchors for the arrays, which contain specialized reflective markers tracked b y the system’s advanced cameras. The cameras continuously monitor these markers, allowing the surgical robot to maintain sub-millimeter accuracy throughout the procedure. This technology has the ability to compensate for any movement during surgery. Whether it’s a slight shift in position or intentional repositioning of the leg, the tracking system maintains precise spatial awareness, ensuring that every bone cut and implant placement is exactly where it should be. The tracking arrays can detect movement as slight as 0.1mm - that’s about the thickness of a human hair! #RoboticSurgery #OrthopedicSurgery .
