Addressing students in Kota ahead of the NEET re-test, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi questioned the financial burden and intense competition associated with India's major competitive examinations. During an interaction with students, Gandhi said families spend around ₹4 lakh on preparation and attempts for multiple exams, while highlighting the low odds of securing top positions such as the IAS. Referring to the scale of competition, he said students were competing with the “best minds in the country” and described the situation as “an insult to every single young person in this country”. More than 4,000 people, most of them students, attended the interaction focused on issues affecting the education sector.
