43-year-old Debosmita Paul, an Assistant Professor of English at #DelhiUniversity’s #ShivajiCollege, was found murdered in her East Delhi apartment on June 4. Just days earlier, she had been discussing travel plans, sarees and the upcoming academic year with colleagues. Police allege that a couple from Bardhaman, #WestBengal, along with their 13-year-old son, travelled nearly 1,400 km to Delhi to kill her over a dispute involving her ancestral property. The couple had been living as tenants in the property and were allegedly asked to vacate by June after Paul refused to sell it. Investigators say the crime was meticulously planned. The accused allegedly carried a mortar and pestle and a razor to Delhi, entered her flat wearing masks, and attacked her after an argument over the property. They then changed clothes, took her phone and fled back to West Bengal. CCTV footage, guest-house records and railway surveillance helped police track and #arrest them.
