Pick your first player experience
When you finish, each placement on your grid has a player experience assigned, and you have seen each one rendered with your brand kit. Your part takes about 5 minutes.
The four experiences
| Experience | Best for | What the viewer sees |
|---|---|---|
| Shorts | Podcasters, publishers, any content-first page | A vertical swipe feed of clips ranked for the page and the person |
| Shoppable | Brands and retailers with a catalog | A carousel where each video carries products and a buy or add-to-cart action |
| Community | Audiences that post, comment, and reply | A wall of creator and member posts with groups, reactions, and Quests |
| Live & Q&A | Hosts, events, AMAs, drops | A scheduled live player with questions, polls, and replay |
Any placement can allow more than one experience; Maya chooses between the allowed ones per view.
What Octo does
- Octo assigns a player experience to every placement from the page type and the content it has seen: Shorts on content pages, Shoppable where it found a catalog, Community where members post, Live & Q&A for event and talent pages. Any placement may allow more than one; Maya chooses per view.
- Octo renders each placement in your brand kit at its size, on desktop and mobile, so you review pictures, not toggles.
What you approve
- The experience per placement. Toggle one on or off; Octo re-renders.
- Choose Approve experiences. The embed snippet in Launch your first community: your owned-and-operated space reads them automatically, so adding an experience later never needs a code change.
Make Octo smarter
- Tell Octo your rules of thumb ("no Community on checkout pages"; "Shoppable only above the fold") under Brand → Context; it applies them to every future placement.
Need help? Octo is available 24/7 in BCC and on every page of these docs. Ask it in plain language; when the answer needs a person, Octo brings the right account manager, developer, or Ops engineer into the same thread and stays on it until it is solved. Every Business Account owner has this, on every plan (see 24/7 Octo-enabled support: how Octo brings in account managers, developers, and Ops).
What you get
- A rendered preview per placement to share with stakeholders.
- Experience settings that the embed snippet in Launch your first community: your owned-and-operated space reads automatically, so no code changes when you add an experience later.
