Adaptation
Re-cut a published video for another placement size, player, or a partner's brand kit, used by Extended O&O and offsite tags.
Adaptation makes new versions of a video you've already published. Studio re-cuts it for another size or player, or for a partner's brand kit. Extended O&O destinations and offsite tags both rely on it.
Octo, Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in Brand Control Center (BCC), proposes this capability when it finds a fit on your sites and apps. It completes the steps under Set it up from your brand context. Nothing goes live until you approve it. It's part of Studio, and Studio: produce brand video from podcasts, long-form, and catalogs explains where Adaptation sits among Studio's work areas.
When to use it
Use it whenever one video has to run in more than one shape.
| Case | What Adaptation does |
|---|---|
| Multi-size grid | Re-cuts for each placement size, such as vertical clips to landscape for a Horizontal Video Player Placement |
| Partner destinations | Re-cuts to a partner's brand kit for Extended O&O destinations and partner placements |
| Offsite tags | Adapts posts to each tag size and adds disclosure, as in Creator Content on Partner Pages |
| Other platforms | Prepares the cut, caption, and cover for each platform you post to from your hub |
How it works
- The Relevance dashboard suggests adaptations in its Adaptation tier, such as re-cutting a video for product pages. Each suggestion shows the expected effect.
- You send a suggestion to Studio with one click, or let it run automatically under the guardrails you set in Canvas, part of Supervised Intelligence.
- Partners re-cut your content to their brand kit only if you allow it. You decide when you choose which groups are distributable in Network distribution.
- The same rule runs inbound. Partner content you accept into your groups is re-cut to your brand kit when the partner allows it.
- On Extended O&O, Genuin adapts your library for each destination. The Studio Adaptation log in Brand Control Center shows that work.
Set it up
Octo proposes Adaptation with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.
- Open Studio > Adaptation, or let the Relevance dashboard suggest an adaptation. Learn how suggestions work in Reading the Relevance dashboard.
- Choose the target sizes or partners. A partner target uses that partner's brand kit.
- Approve each version, or set the approval mode to auto-approve.
Settings
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Target sizes | The placement sizes and players to re-cut for |
| Partner kits | The partner brand kits to re-cut into |
| Approval mode | Whether you approve each version or it's approved automatically |
Octo fills these from your brand context, and you change them when you review the proposal. Later changes arrive as proposals in the same shape.
What it reports
- Adapted versions: each version Studio made from a published video.
- Engagement by size: how each adapted version performs at its placement size.
The Studio Adaptation log shows the versions Studio made, and the Adaptation tier in the Relevance dashboard suggests the next ones. Measure engagement: watch time, lift, and cohorts explains how engagement is counted.
Connect your systems
The live API covers the communities, groups, and posts your adapted versions come from.
- Create a community creates a community under your brand, with its type, access settings, and first members.
- Create a group in a community adds a group with its visibility and posting rules.
- Post a video to a group uploads a video and its thumbnail, then posts it to a group with a caption.
The Studio calls in the Business Account API are proposed, not live. Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap maps what you can call now to what's planned.
