Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday (March 12) said India’s fuel and LPG supplies remain stable despite global disruptions in the energy market. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Puri said India is navigating what he described as the “most severe global energy disruption in recorded history”, but added that fuel supply across the country continues to flow and consumer prices are being kept lower than prevailing market trends. He said the government has prioritised gas supply for households and farms, while LPG production has been increased by 28% in the past five days through directives to refineries. Additional procurement is also underway to ensure uninterrupted supply. Puri said the government’s foremost priority is to ensure that the kitchens of 33 crore Indian families, particularly the poor and underprivileged, do not face shortages. He added that domestic supply remains fully protected and LPG delivery cycles remain unchanged.
