🦴 Understanding Percutaneous Pinning for Bone Fractures . Percutaneous pinning is a minimally invasive procedure involving inserting metal pins through small skin incisions to stabilize broken bones, like an internal scaffolding that holds everything in place while healing occurs. Unlike traditional open surgery, percutaneous pinning means smaller scars and potentially faster recovery times: - Less invasive #FractureCare - Shorter hospital stays - Earlier return to function - Reduced risk of complications - Outpatient pin removal . Like a high-tech game of Opereration, urgeons use real-time X-ray guidance (fluoroscopy) to precisely position these pins. The pins can be removed once healing is complete (typically 4-6 wks). Ideal candidates are patients with: - Simple fracture patterns - Good bone quality - Minimal soft tissue damage - Certain types of hand, wrist, and elbow fractures 🚨 Important note: While remarkably effective, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Proper post-operative care is crucial, including: - Regular wound checks - Circulation monitoring - Following activity restrictions - Keeping the area dry - Attending follow-up appointments . 👇 Have you or someone you know experienced this procedure?
