This week on ShrinkChicks, Emmalee and Jen are joined by two incredible guests, Dr. Sophia Brandstetter and Karen Smith, LCSW! Both Sophia and Karen are therapists who have advanced training in and specialize in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Together, they discuss who is a candidate for KAP, a detailed explanation of what KAP looks like, KAP in a group setting vs. individual setting and what the group process entails, and information for those who may feel tentative about the idea. Sophia and Karen share how they each got into this work and why. They discuss why it can be so hard to connect with our unconscious mind and how KAP has the ability to bring down our defenses in order to do so.
