The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project crossed another major milestone on Sunday as India's largest rail tunnel boring machine (TBM) began excavation work for the underground section beneath Mumbai. The 13.6-metre-diameter TBM, launched from Vikhroli, will excavate a 6-km single-tube tunnel as part of the 21-km underground stretch of India's first high-speed rail corridor.
