The Karnataka Lokayukta police on Thursday arrested a Bengaluru police inspector for allegedly accepting a ₹4 lakh bribe from a builder accused in a cheating case. The accused, Govindaraju, posted at KP Agrahara police station, was caught red-handed at the City Armed Reserve grounds in Chamarajpet while collecting the bribe from builder Mohammed Akbar. According to Lokayukta officials, the inspector allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh to drop Akbar’s name from the cheating case. After paying ₹1 lakh earlier, Akbar approached the Lokayukta, leading to a trap operation using phenolphthalein-coated currency note.
