Researchers at EPFL have created a drone with bird-like legs that can walk, hop, perch, and leap into flight, giving it access to places traditional UAVs can’t reach. Called RAVEN (Robotic Avian-inspired Vehicle for multiple ENvironments), it takes inspiration from ravens and crows that seamlessly switch between land and air. With its adaptable legs, the drone can perch, launch, and take off independently in environments that were once impossible for winged drones to navigate.
