Parliament Winter Session | The Lok Sabha witnessed sharp disruptions on Tuesday as the opposition staged a protest against the government’s introduction of the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025, which seeks to replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Opposition MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal and Manish Tiwari, strongly objected to the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the scheme and demanded that the Bill be referred to a parliamentary committee for detailed examination. The proposed legislation also triggered protests in the Parliament House complex, with several opposition leaders accusing the BJP-led NDA government of “insulting” Mahatma Gandhi.
