Maharashtra politics has delivered yet another surprise. In Ambernath, a rare alliance called the Ambernath Vikas Aghadi was formed during local polls, bringing together the BJP, Congress, the NCP Ajit Pawar faction, and an Independent councillor. With a clear majority on paper, the alliance appeared strong. However, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis soon declared that any alliance with the Congress was unacceptable. Shortly after, the Congress suspended all 12 of its councillors involved in the pact. Then came the dramatic twist. Within hours of their suspension, all 12 Congress councillors joined the BJP. Maharashtra BJP chief Ravindra Chavan said the leaders chose development-focused governance. The move sparked sharp reactions from the opposition.
