India successfully launched its heaviest communications satellite, CMS-03, into orbit on Sunday (November 2) from the country's Sriharikota spaceport, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), India's national space agency. The mission marked the fifth operational flight of the LVM3, ISRO's heavy-lift launcher. Satellite CMS-03, a 4,410-kg (9,724-lb) multi-band satellite, was "precisely injected within the specification of the orbit," ISRO chief V. Narayanan said. The satellite is designed to provide communications coverage across India and adjacent ocean regions, according to an ISRO statement.
