Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi Cabinet has approved the new Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, which is proposed to come into effect from July 1, 2026, after the Lieutenant Governor's approval. The policy will remain in force until March 31, 2030, and aims to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission vehicles as part of the government's efforts to curb pollution in the national capital. According to the Chief Minister, the policy envisages benefits worth nearly ₹15,000 crore, including purchase and scrapping incentives, exemptions on road tax and registration fees, and the creation of EV charging infrastructure. The policy covers two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, N1 trucks and Gramin Seva vehicles, with no cap on the number of vehicles eligible for incentives.
