Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), Delhi, have intercepted a sophisticated gold-smuggling attempt. A passenger arriving from Dubai on 25 October 2025 was discreetly monitored and stopped as he attempted to exit via the green channel—reserved for travellers declaring no dutiable items. On screening his baggage, officers discovered 170 grams of gold ingeniously disguised as the cap of a plastic bottle. The metal was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act 1962 and further investigation is now underway.
