Congress-led UDF leads in #Kerala in 77 seats, crossing the halfway mark in the first hour of counting, while LDF is ahead in 50 seats. One and a half hours into counting of votes, 139 out of 140 seats indicate the UDF is leading in 89 and the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in 44, while BJP-led NDA has the lead in 5 seats. Apart from retaining the lead in its traditional strongholds of Ernakulam and Malappuram, UDF candidates are leading in several seats currently held by the LDF in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kozhikode and Palakkad, early trends indicate. VD Satheesan, the Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly and a favourite to become the next chief minister, is now in the lead in Paravur seat.
