🦿 Cemented vs Cementless Total Knee Replacement . The majority of knee replacements use cement. In cemented #totalkneearthroplasty (TKA), bone cement acts like grout, creating a strong immediate bond between the implant and your bone. This tried-and-true technique allows for faster recovery and immediate weight-bearing. The cement also contains antibiotics, providing an extra layer of infection protection. #Orthopedics #JointReplacement . Cementless implants, featuring special porous surfaces, rely on your bone growing into them for fixation. While this biological fixation can potentially last longer, it requires excellent bone quality and takes time to develop - often reserved for younger, more active patients with strong bones. Advantages of cemented TKA: ✅ Immediate stability ✅ Works well with all bone types ✅ Lower early failure rates ✅ Antibiotic protection Cementless TKA benefits: 🔹 Potential for longer-lasting biological fixation 🔹 No cement degradation 🔹 Shorter operating time Recent studies show that proper cementing technique is crucial for success, including: 📍 Thorough bone preparation 📍 Precise cement mixing 📍 Proper timing 📍 Adequate pressurization Whether cemented or cementless, both options have shown excellent long-term results when used in the right patients. Your surgeon will recommend the best option based on your age, bone quality, and activity level. . ⬇️ Cement or Cement-less, SHARE your knee replacement experience & insights
