Calcific tendonitis is a condition characterized by the accumulation of calcium deposits within the tendons of the body, most commonly affecting the rotator cuff tendons in the shoulder. The exact cause is not well understood, but it is thought to be related to degenerative changes in the tendon tissue or impaired blood flow leading to the deposition of calcium.
