Burn Care Innovation 🐠 Fish Skin Dressing for Wound Treatment . Tilapia fish skin continues to grow as a treatment for burn wounds. This innovative therapy, pioneered in Brazil, is transforming how we approach burn care. Advantages of fish skin dressing can include: - Rich in type I and III collagen, similar to human skin - Creates a natural, moist healing environment #BurnCare - Reduces the need for painful dressing changes (can stay in place up to 10 dys) - More cost-effective than traditional treatments - Reduces pain levels significantly #WoundHealing . Clinical studies show that tilapia skin treatment can accelerate healing, decreases pain medication needs, and reduces treatment costs by up to 45%. The skin (would typically be discarded as waste by the food industry) undergoes a rigorous sterilization process, making it safe and effective for wound care. During previous California wildfires, this treatment was successfully used to heal burned wildlife, including bears and mountain lions! The future of burn care might just be swimming in our oceans.
