About 1.5 lakh kg of expired Amul non-dairy items were destroyed in Jaipur after being allegedly prepared for illegal sale. The haul was so large that it took 27 trucks and four days to clear the material for destruction. The businessman involved reportedly revealed that he learned how to change the dates on expired goods from YouTube. Officials found thinner, acetone, and chemicals at the warehouse, which were allegedly used to erase the original expiry dates. The firm allegedly bought near-expiry material at throwaway prices to repackage and sell it for a profit. Authorities have now sealed the warehouse and banned the firm’s food operations under the Food Safety Act.
